This is not good news. The army of the dictator who ruled the Maldives for thirty years has forced out the legitimately elected President. Who we should care about even more than you might think since he's been an articulate and persistent voice for rational action about global climate change. Just for starters.
I'll be waiting to see what mealy-mouthed response the U.S. government has. After all, doesn't matter to us. Afaik, they have no significant petroleum reserves.
Yes, we have no "strategic interests" there. And we know how much our moral interest is worth.
