I've been thinking about the Stanford speech by Steve Jobs. And I *think* that we'll see two consequences that I'll like. First of all, we should see more driven, aggressive, passionate teens and young adults looking into calligraphy in the next few years. After all, look at how he frames it as such a key part of the process that turned him into the Steve Jobs who is now so revered. For the same reason I expect to see Reed applications go up in general and specifically get juiced with more, well, kids like the one that I once was. Strange, smart, but NOT drifting or "chill" or just trying to be generally upper middle class "alternative."
Good. Reed is overdue for a kick in the ass and it should eventually give our world more hard core visionaries in coming years with that solid Reed College cognitive toughness and skillz.
And thus we see that even this cloud has a silver lining.
