And please don't post a lot of "but it's not as fast as…" I get that it's basic to the point of minimal by this week's standards.
It's a laptop. New. For $120. Standard. You can write letters on it, check email, look at spreadsheets, and generally kick the ass of a $5,000 laptop from not that many years ago that many of you would have given up limbs to get a few years even further back.
Things like this have implications beyond the tech community as such. And I think that at moments like this it behooves us to remember the folks at the OLPC project. Their own devices may never have gotten as far as they wanted, but their influence has helped us all.
I wonder if anybody is planning to install Sugar on this.
